This holy book is the second letter Paul wrote to the believers living in the city of Corinth in Greece. He had already preached there during his second journey. Many people had believed in Jesus, but they were failing in their conduct. There were disagreements among some, others were committing sexually immoral acts, and still others boasted about themselves to other believers. All this only causes shame amongst religious people. This is why Paul wrote his first letter to them.
When the Corinthians read the first letter, some obeyed Paul's instructions and turned away from the path of sin. But others became stubborn. These latter became Paul's opponents and sought every possible way to sully his name. They disguised themselves as true messengers, but they were proud. For this reason, Paul wrote his second letter to the believers in Corinth.
This letter proves that Paul was a true messenger of Jesus, who is the Messiah whom God sent. Paul taught many things to the believers, so that liars would not deceive them by telling them not to listen to Paul anymore.
In addition, this letter gives good advice to the Corinthians about the work they had begun to do for the believers living in Jerusalem. There were believers suffering from hunger in Israel and so the believers living elsewhere collected money to help their brothers. The Corinthians were the first to begin this work. Through this letter, Paul encouraged them to finish this work.
This letter has become a holy book that instructs believers today with good counsel. We must listen to God's messengers who teach the true Word of God. If someone claims to be God's messenger and his teachings are not in line with those of Jesus's early followers, he is a false messenger and must not be followed. May God protect us from such deceptions. It is also our duty to help other believers in their suffering in any way we can. May God grant us such love.
May God help us to be people that do his will. Amen!
