While Paul was in prison in Rome, he wrote another letter to his companion Timothy. He had already written him one letter, but he added a second letter to review certain principles. Paul had suffered greatly in prison, and there was no one around to help him. Paul mentions all this in this letter because he thought of Timothy like a son.
In his first letter, Paul taught Timothy principles that could help him in his work with the community of believers. In this second letter, it seems that Paul wants to encourage Timothy in his faith. Paul tells him about his suffering and his conduct, so that Timothy can use these as a model to follow.
In his second letter, Paul reminds Timothy of how he came to faith and the way he had become involved in God's work. Timothy learned the Bible from his mother and grandmother. These instructions were very important to Timothy in his calling in life to serve God.
This book was very important to Timothy and to the people to whom he preached the word of God. The word of God in the holy book contains great wisdom that human beings need. If people do not follow this word, their life on earth and in eternity will not be easy.
Paul speaks about these things in this book. He speaks to Timothy about the end times so that he can preach earnestly, otherwise, people will live in error, which will lead them to eternal destruction. May God protect us from this. May God grant us the right knowledge too, so that the future may be made easy for us! Amen!
